Platinum Cup Winner - Cognizant 'A' with Chief Guest T. Shekar and R. Gerald, Amway

The 1st Edition of Roots Sports Chennai Corporate Futsal Tournament was held on 13^th & 14^th Feb, 2010 in association with Amway.

Corporate football mania gripped the Rajarathnam Stadium, Egmore this weekend, with the crème de la crème of corporate Chennai fielded their teams in the five-a-side inter-corporate futsal tournament played in league & Super league format.  

Among the companies that dazzled the Rajarathnam Stadium with their football skills and team strategy outside the boardrooms were Accenture, Cognizant, iSOFT, Kotak Securities, Sify, Sutherland, Wipro to name but a few.

The event was promoted by Roots Sports, a sports management firm in association with Amway, one of the world's largest direct selling companies as the main sponsor.

Chief Guest for the Prize Distribution Ceremony was Mr. T. Sekar, ex-senior International Footballer, who also played for East Bengal and currently the Coach of Senior Tamil Nadu State Football Team, congratulating the teams; he emphasized on promoting the game among all sections of the society and how the game helps in maintaining a healthy lifestyle among youth. Mr. Gerald, Manager Marketing – South India, Amway also graced the prize distribution ceremony and reiterated Amway’s commitment to sports & healthy lifestyle.  

Cognizant ‘A’ won the Platinum Cup in the Super League defeating both iSOFT ‘A’ and Cognizant ‘B’ to emerge Champion of Amway Corporate Futsal Chennai.

Jude of Cognizant was adjudged as the “Player of the Tournament” for his superb contribution, Bharath from Accenture was awarded the “Best Striker” of the Tournament for his goal-scoring spree while Rajesh from iSOFT was awarded the “Best Goalkeeper” for his brilliant performance behind the goal.
